Rustrem LA-209 is very effective rust removing solution for iron, steel and iron contains alloy. It is not only removing the rust from the iron but also removes the oxide layer from the other metals. Rusting is a most troublesome process for Iron products. Rustrem LA-209 dissolves rust quickly without harming surrounding parts, trim, gaskets or paint. Rustrem LA-209 cleans, dissolves and eliminates rust spots chemically. It destroys any rust present on the metal and leaves the surface in a suitable condition for painting. It restores surfaces to bare metal without scraping, chipping or scrubbing. Rustrem LA-209 converts rust from a detrimental oxide to a beneficial phosphate of iron.

Rust is the result of the oxidation of iron. The most common cause is prolonged exposure to water. Any metal that contains iron, including steel will bond with the oxygen atoms found in water to form a layer of iron oxide or rust. The surface of the metal is deteriorated by chemical reactions inherent to the chemical composition of the metal. Water and salts are the main culprits in the oxidation process. Rust increases the speed up of corrosion process, so upkeep is important. Rustrem LA-209 removes thin films of wet oil and other superficial impurities from cold rolled mild steel components, cast iron surfaces, forged components, machined surfaces etc. It removes light to medium rust and certain types of welding and heat-treatment scales. Rustrem LA-209 works at room temperature (20⁰C). It does not leave any smut & does not produce fumes as a product of reaction between the chemical and the metal but there will be slight smell which can be sucked and blown away through hoods suitably.
